We all know that having a good image to accompany your blog post can really help it stand out. But if you’re like me, it’s often a struggle to find suitable images, without hunting for ages, that aren’t going to land you in legal trouble!
Whilst I’m trying to get better at photography and using my Instagram account a bit more, I consider myself a ‘point and shoot’ snapper. So where are the great sources of copyright free images that are actually worth using? Here’s a brief guide to a small selection so you don’t have to trawl through and find the best sources.
A brilliant starting point. The images, numbering just under half a million, are totally free and not only are they great quality the site also has a super search functionality. I’ve just started using the site and am totally impressed.
Another great, royalty free selection that is also supremely searchable – and more added daily.
Photographer Ryan McGuire adds to this amazingly quirky collection every week. I love the uniqueness of the images and the amazing light and use of colour on the photos.
If vintage rocks your retro loving world, you’ll appreciate this selection that is quite simply from another era. Not all the images are free, so choose carefully.
One that’s very popular and I can see why. Great images added to weekly; the only downside I could find when I have used the site that many are in landscape style, but that might not bother others.
Have you experience of any of these sites – or others you would recommend – that would be useful to share with others? Please add you comments below.
