Top reads this week

I don’t know about you but I see so much on the internet and via social media that I think my head will explode! This make it really hard to know what are the top reads this week that contain the most essential tips and experience from others to read and digest to help us improve both professionally and personally.

Well fear ye not; I’ve rounded up the top 6 reads for this week which I think are everything you need!

My day by day round-up

Monday’s #commschat focused on the value of employee engagement. This is something internal comms pros will know is all too essential. That’s why it’s on my top reads for the week. The chat was efficiently summarised by Amanda Coleman via CIPR Influence magazine here. Plus, Larry Kim, via Inc magazine gave us the secrets to true happiness – and they’re not what you might think!

On Wednesday the perennially insightful Dan Rockwell at Leadership Freak gave us some fabulous tips to get exactly what you want.

As we reached Thursday this week, the CIPR announced winners of its’ 2016 Excellence Awards; PR’s most prestigious annual awards made across 29 highly contested categories. Read about who won what here.

Plus, Hotwire PR held it’s Changing Face of Influence event launching its latest report to find out what really influences B2B decision makers when making purchase decisions. Read the Storify here and John Brown’s blog about the event here.

And to end, another one of my top reads for the week, the PRCA census on Friday highlighted the UK PR industry now employs 83,000 people and is worth £12.9bn. A 34% rise of over the £9.62bn from 2013. It also confirmed claims that there are now far more PRs than journalists working in Britain. Roy Greenslade summed up the impact of this in The Guardian here.

Another busy week! If I’ve missed any gems that you found useful please let me know and post them below.
